Guidance and Resources for Insurance Carriers

New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Law Requirements: New Jersey workers’ compensation laws mandate that all insurance carriers and self-insurers appoint an individual capable of addressing issues related to medical and temporary disability benefits, especially in cases where no claim petition has been filed or the existing petition remains unanswered. Failure to adhere to this requirement will incur a daily fine of $2,500, payable to the Second Injury Fund.

Compliance Form Submission: To adhere to this legal requirement, kindly complete and submit the provided form. Even if this information has been previously provided to the Division, completion of this new form is mandatory.

Contacts for Carrier/Self-Insurer and Public Sector: Access the current list of contacts for Carrier/Self-Insurer and Public Sector for your reference.

Supplemental Benefits for Public Safety Workers’ Dependents: On June 17, 2019, Governor Philip Murphy signed Senate Bill S1967 (N.J.S.A. 34:15-95.6) into law, granting supplemental benefits to dependents of public safety workers.

According to this legislation, insurance carriers and self-insured employers responsible for workers’ compensation death benefits must furnish the N.J. Division of Workers’ Compensation – Office of Special Compensation Funds with the identities and current mailing addresses of these dependents.

This should be accompanied by a copy of the formal award of dependency benefits and the calculation of supplemental benefits to be paid by the Second Injury Fund. This information must be submitted no later than the 60th day after determining the necessity of providing supplemental benefits to these dependents as per the law.
