A cervical spine is made up of seven vertebrae stacked over each other. The vertebrae have two parts, the front and the back. The front of the vertebrae is called the vertebra body. The back of the vertebrae is made up of a pair of joints, the laminae and the spinous process.Between each of the vertebrae body in the front, there is an intervertebral disc which helps push in the vertebral bodies, as well as our movement.
The vertebral canal is present between the front and the back of the vertebrae. It has all the nerves that are brought from the brain and supply all the body. The spinal cord in the vertebral canal sends out local, at each level, it supplies the nerves to the arm and the respective parts of the body.
The cervical spine is supplied by blood from the vertebral arteries on each side of the vertebral body. The cervical spine is wrapped around with muscles in the front as well as in the back. These muscles provide stability to the cervical spine, as well as lead to movement of the cervical spine. The food pipe and the wind pipe are present in the front of the cervical spine.
